Welcome to librarybuildings.ie, the online database of Irish public library buildings.
This resource aims to provide information about local authority public library buildings in Ireland and to promote best practice in library planning and design. The project is managed by An Chomhairle Leabharlanna and funded by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
One of the priorities set out
in Branching Out: Future Directions (4.1 Infrastructure) is the
provision of grant-aid for refurbishment works. In response to this, the new
Capital Funding Programme for Libraries (Circular Letter LSS 03/08) makes
provision for library authorities to apply for capital grants for the refurbishment
of libraries. The database has been amended to include a dedicated section on refurbished
libraries, with detailed information and images. As with the existing data,
users of the site will be able to search for projects using a wide range of
criteria, allowing them find projects which most closely match their own.
